School was cancelled for many in Tuscon and areas east this (Monday) morning and roads were snow and ice covered—all part of the rare winter snowfall captured in these photos from Kori Rumore. Nearby mountainous areas were buried beneath as much as two feet of snow with 24" reported
at Hannagan Meadow and 12" on Mount Lemon. Valleys, including Tucson proper, were hit with accumulations in the half to 3" range with nearby Graham and Cochise Counties—to the east and northeast—reporting 2 to 9" totals. Kori tells us long time residents of the area say it's been
awhile since so much snow has fallen in the normally much warmer Tuscon area. Above freezing temperatures Monday led to melting which was far more restrained in the higher elevations surrounding Tuscon.
