We more than doubled the average amount of rain (2.71") for October. The 6.04" that fell last month ties October 2001 as the 5th wettest October on record. It was also an unusually cloudy and cool month. There were only two "sunny days" . A "sunny day" means a day with 30 percent or less cloud cover from sunrise to sunset. The average high temperature of 55.2 was 6.9 degrees below average.
November is a time of transition. Our average high at the beginning of the month is 54 but by the end it drops to just 40. The National Weather Service models are predicting a warm and dry start to the month.
Their 14 day outlook keeps most of the country drier than average and the midwest through the northwest warmer than average. Snow isn't too far off though at least
climatologically speaking. The average date of our first measurable snow is about two weeks away. November averages about 1.8" of snow.
