Gilmore Girls: What The Hay?

Lorelai navigates the hay maze... and her love lifeAfter weeks of waiting, we finally got our Gilmore Girls (and their men) back last night in an episode overrun with hay bales, April v. 2.0, and general Stars Hollow eccentricity, from Michel's grousing to Taylor's rash decisions.

Logan got the grand tour of Stars Hollow, but his arrival put Lorelai on edge. As soon as he arrived, Lorelai grew visibly nervous and babbled (well, more than usual) about guest towels and trundle beds. As Rory's job prospect in Providence became more promising, Logan encouraged her to take risks while Lorelai reminded her of security and 401ks. Lorelai and Logan clashed again at an unexpected midnight meeting in the Gilmore kitchen. We can totally see Lorelai's side in this -- Logan can be reckless at times, and he takes risks that might not be appropriate for Rory. But we also have to agree with Logan that Lorelai's been a risk-taker, too (raising a child as a teen, opening the inn, rejecting an easy life of privilege), and she can't always protect Rory from the world. What do you think? Was Lorelai being overprotective, or was she right to worry about Rory and Logan's future?

Besides the Lorelai/Logan tension, we also got some long overdue Lorelai/LUKE tension in the form of haybale-surrounded apologies and regrets. Those two seem to be moving closer together after last night's reconciliation... we're excited to see what happens next week.

So many developments to discuss! What'd you think? Was the Lorelai/Luke moment everything you'd hoped for? Who do you identify with, Lorelai or Logan? And do you agree with Rory's decision to go for the fellowship and turn down the Providence job offer?

i THNIK THEY SHOULD mARRIED

I will miss gilmore girls...it is the only reason i watch the CW all the other shows on the channel are stupid

OMG I am sitting her crying. I just read that the Gilmore Girls will be no more. I am obsessed with them. I have a 20 year old daughter and I swear we are Lorelai and Rory. My daughter will turn 21 in December and guess what we are going to do. You guessed it we are going to Atlantic City and will be sitting at the blackjack table at 11:59 with Martini's in hand so that we can drink them and play 21 at the stroke of Midnight when she turns 21 and when we win we will then buy 21 things and we are even going to get 21 guys phone numbers just for the fun of it. I just feel that the Gilmore's have been such a big part of my life and will miss them on Tuesday nights very much. I really wasn't too happy with the Lorelai/Christopher story line because I feel that Luke and Lorelai are soul mates and belong together.
But now that Luke and Lorelai are seeing eye to eye again I was so hopeful that they would rekindle what was lost and start their romance up again. But now I can only sit here and cry. I do have every complete season on DVD and I cannot wait to get the last one. I sure wish you could rethink this and continue the Gilmore Girls. I am sure I speak for many fans when I say WE LOVE THE GILMORE GIRLS AND DON'T WANT THEM TO END. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T END THE GILMORE GIRLS LETS KEEP THEM GOING.

i love logan and rory. they love each other (in the show).i think they should get married later in the show.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! i love logan!!! If Rory says no i will cry till i die. Logan i so nice and smart. He fits her so well. So if the writer is here if they breakup you will have no viewers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As foe lorelei. I like it better when you Luke were just friends. i dont think they belong together!!!!!!!!!!!

RORY SAY YES TO LOGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lorelai and luke belong together and I can't wait for it to happen! I'm not a fan of logan he needs to grow up and get serious. I can't wait for season eight. Amy is a genious!

I hope rory says yes if she doesn't i die

I don't think logan and rory should get married, they are too young. go out spread your wings, if in ten years you meet again and still connect then go for the whole marriage kids and volvo routine. as for the 5 seconds of luke and lorelai at the end. you've got to be kidding me luke was too unluke like and once again lorelai has to apologize and make concessions because luke couldn't think on his feet fast enough. I say enough already if they're going to be together, just do it. stop dragging it out and get it over with already. If they do come back for an eighth season, I'm not to sure I'll be watching.

I'm excited for a another new episode!!!way to go gilmore girls, thanks again for another great season.....

Love always

I think that Logan is coming around. He has always been somewhat spoiled but really fights it. I think they will end up married. As for Lorelai and Luke~~GET BACK TOGETHER!!!!!! She was never good with Christopher and I didn't like them together. They should have a big town wedding and Sookie makes the cake and Miss Patty has a show for them and the whole ball of wax. Of course, Emily will boycott or at least threaten to. I lovethis show!!!!! Thanks Melodee Bonnes, Buhl, Idaho

I love logan and rory together and i think that they should get married in season 8

I have mixed feelings about the episode too. I agree with the earlier comment that she should have talked to Rory and not have been so passive agressive towards Logan. In the end Logan was the bigger personand initiated the conversation. I LOVED THAT. I am glad they had that talk. I never loved Logan more than when he told Rory to go for what she wanted and he would consider where she is in his own job search. That was huge! Uh, so adorable. I also agree with the comment earlier about Lor/Chris. I think there was so much of that story that was UNTOLD because it would cloud the whole single mother raising her daughter alone thing that made the show. There is one question that I always wanted answered though, when Lorelai left with Rory and Emily and Richard didn't know where they were for YEARS, did Chris? hmm, did she just take off with his kid? She did afterall refuse to marry him. (things that make you go hmm) So yeah, I think she sees a lot of Chris in Logan and she is scared for her daughter, but you can't choose who you love and your mother certainly can't choose for you, so she needs to back off a little and let Rory experience life.
I think Rory made a good choice in turning down the Providnce job and holding out for the one she really wanted. Like Logan said, she doesn't have to settle now is the time for her to go for what she wants. I am so glad these encouraging things came from him. YAAAAAAY Logan.

Luke/Lorelai. My opinion. I LOVE them as friends. As a couple it always felt forced to me. Yes there were some good times, the very early stages. But after that it didn't really work for me.

I love gilmore girls its my fav show.paris is pretty cool but a bitch sometimesi loove rory shes just so sweet

in my opinion , i think the episodes with jesse and den are the best, not saying logan isnt the hottest thing i've ever seen ! haha

I actually like Logan and Rory together, earlier in the relationship he was somewhat of a jerk but he has matured and I think he treats her well. A lot better than Jess ever did!
Anyway the whole Luke/Lorelai thing...I'm so tired of Luke, what is it? 6-7 years he's known Lorelai and they're still not married? We can see clearly shes loves him a lot, I don't think he feels the same. He does care about her but not enough, in my opinion. And why does everyone hate Christopher?? I personally wanted him and Lor to end up together cuz i think they have the best chemistry on the show. yes, christopher wasn't always there for rory and lorelai but he always wanted to be, just the circumstances didn't let him. hes has always wanted to marry Lor and have a family with her and rory. he jumped at the opportunity when he got to be with Lorelai and so he did. Still 6-7 yrs are going by and I don't see Luke trying that hard to get her. He needs to stop being a drag and do something!!
Still I'd rather see Christopher and Lor together!!! well at least when her heart is free from grouchy, procrastinating Luke.

What happened to the terse, grunting Luke? Now he speaks in psychobabble ("compartmentalizing"?) in Dr. Phil moments with Lorelai. And I didn't think there was any Luke/Lorelai tension in the hay-maze at all.

I feel ike Lorelei was letting her experience with Christopher get in the way of seeing Logan for who he really is -- yes, he's a son of priviledge,a nd yes, he's not had to struggle with the same things most people do, but he's not just a ne'er-do-well waster. He's proven that he can learn from his mistakes -- hell, that he can admit his mistakes, which Christopher never really did.

As for the Rory going for hte fellowship, I think it's a great idea. This is the point in her life when she can take crazy risks and live in poverty ifnecessary. She dones't have any student loans (thanks to Richard and Emily), she's not responsible for supporting a kid or a husband or anything like that -- now is the time she should go for it!

Lorelei is a mother, and it's natural for her to worry about Rory. However, Rory has grown up, and Lor needs to respect her decisions. Logan is growing & learning from his mistakes, as we all do during that stage in our lives. Lor can't be too judgemental with anyone, especially since she's made so many bad decisions this year. Lor is old enough to know better. She jumps from man to man, like she can't live without one. It's a total contradiction to who her character really is. A strong woman, who raised a daughter all by herself, with no help from anyone. The minute her relationship goes bad with one man, she's off with another. I think Lorelei needs to get her head together. She's a strong, intelligent woman, and she needs to start acting the part.

Of course Lorelei was right as a mother to worry about Rory. The problem is that she should have discussed her issues with her close daughter before being judgemental on Logan. She acted liked she never heard of Logan before. And she was more than hypocritical considering the mistakes she's made this year alone. But, the scene where Logan and Lor came to an understanding was done very well. I have always liked Logan and feel he has been overly criticized because he is wealthy. But I have never loved Logan more than I do now. He will be a success on his own and I love his warmth and intelligence. The chemistry between Rory & Logan is unmatched on tv.
It was good to see Lorelei finally warming up to Logan and seeing why her daughter loves him so much. I wish there were more episodes to show Logan's future. I know he will be a success on his own terms with his own values. Greatr ep. Logan!
