Smallville: The Truth Revealed!

Smallville pulled out all the stops for this season finale: Lex discovers Clark's secret! Brainiac is defeated for good! Lana does a runner! Jimmy proposes to Chloe! We can hardly keep up with all the developments!

Last week, Kara was suddenly incapacitated. Apparently she recovered, because she's feeling good enough to track down Edward Teague on a chartered plane - and then cause that plane to crash, killing everyone on board. Has Kara gone evil? When Clark confronts her, she says she's merely trying to make sure that Lex doesn't gain control of Clark. So why is she showing up at Lex's lair, telling him that it's he destiny to use the device to save humanity and defeat the Traveler?

Clark and Chloe decide they need to take Kara down, and that means deploying Kryptonite. Clark agrees that he's got o be far away when Chloe whips out the glowing green rock. That turns out to be a mistake - the Kryptonite has no effect on Kara. That's because it's not Kara at all - it's Brainiac! He tries to do the same sort of mind-whammy maneuver that he pulled on Lana, but Chloe's meteor-freak powers apparently make that difficult Brainiac needs to refuel after that encounter.

Clark goes to Chloe in the hospital, and her milky eyes tell him everything he needs to know. He goes after Brainiac, who is unrepentant. I was fighting for my survival! If you kill me, you'll never see Kara again! And besides, you'd never kill another man! Funny thing, though - Brainiac isn't a man, he's a machine, and Clark has no problem disposing of a bunch of circuitry.

The good news? Brainiac's demise cures Chloe and Lana. The bad news? Kara is still trapped in the Phantom Zone, unbeknownst to Clark. Even worse, Lana takes the opportunity to get out of dodge. I love you more than you'll ever know, she tells Clark (via DVD), but the world needs you more than I need you. I can't keep you to myself. Don't look for me. Clark weeps.

Jimmy takes Chloe's illness as a wake-up call - I could lose you! He doesn't want to waste any more time, so he proposes to Chloe. That tender moment is broken up by the Department of Domestic Security. See, Lex told Jimmy to lie to Lois to get her off his case. Jimmy did that, passing on a story that Lex was just going to the Arctic to look for oil drilling sites, but he refuses to play Lex's errand boy after that - I just can't lie to my friends! Lex says he respects Jimmy's principles, when what he really means is "Dude, you're so screwed." Hence, the government grabbing Chloe. Jimmy goes to Clark for help, and passes on a vital bit of intelligence: Lex is going to the Arctic, and it's not to drill for oil. Clark knows what that means.

That sets up the climactic showdown at the Fortress of Solitude. Lex (inexplicably sans parka) enters the Fortress and figures out what to do with the Traveler-controlling doohickey he found in the fireplace. Clark begs him not to go through with it, but Lex is unmoved - you never trusted me! Just think of what we could have accomplished if you'd let me in on your secret! Lex connects the doohickey to the Fortress, and everything collapses. The Fortress sinks below the Arctic ice - taking Lex and Clark with it.

keep it coming i am loving it all. the show is gooooooooood.

i really like smallville i hope clark makes an amazing comeback and the next season is better then the others.so the direcotrs of smallville do a good job cause smallville is my favorite show.keep up the good stuff.

I'm too thinking about a new season without Michael Rosenbaum but I liked the way the season ended can't wait for the next one

I am a big Smallville but too many short stories that went no where has me puzzled about S8. First, how did braniac trap Kara in the phantom zone? Is Chloe going to a maximum security prison and how in the world did Lex manage to make the time to call the FBI? whoever? and still seek out the Fortress. Clark's character needs to finally learn how to fly and I agree that he does need to work for the Daily Planet instead of staying at the farm. Are they going to bring back Mrs. Kent or is she going to stay a senator forever? Ya see too many loopholes in the plot. In the comics and the movies Lex never knew that Clark had powers ...this is too confusing ...so is he going to get a bump on the head and forget about everything? How in the world is Clark going to rebuild the fortress. In the movies and the comics it was never mentioned that Clark had to rebuild the fortress twice. ...hugh? I just hope that S8 is going to have more of a story that focuses on Clark becoming more like Superman than a weak human want to be. More villians would be nice and just like S6 they should bring some phantoms to fight Clark as he tries to rescue Kara...well I'm no writer of the show but I think these ideas will get loyal SV watchers more interested. Hopefully S8 will have more of a Clark entering the stages of Superman than dealing with human emotions. An interesting idea is to bring in a young Bruce Wayne to meet Clark and give him the nudge of being a superhero. Well we can all dream can't we.

I guess my one questions would be.... Now that Lex knows Clark's secret, how will affect the rest of the story. Because all the comics we've read and movies watched, Lex was never privy to Clarks secret. I wonder? Is anyone else out there wondering the same thing?

Smallville is the greatest show that has ever air in television, I'm a big superman fan, quite confuse on how smallville is different from lois&clark, but hey everything needs a change.... Great Show

i really cant wait for the next season.....i wonder whats going to happen

WOW What an ending to one of the best worst season of smallvile. When will they stop making Clark look like a punk? first he doesn't know how to fly yet. Fans want to see him fly. Can't believe they got trapped under the ice. Smallville is killing me. I’m a big superman fan. They are killing the story. lex shouldn’t know his identity. I hope that season 8 is a lot better than this season.

without this show cw is nothing. air this show forever. without it i will be stuck wathcing comedy central.

After watching this show for the last 7 seasons, it's almost painful to watch. There's no action, just soap opera love triangle, i love you, i hate you, i'm sorry i should have trusted you, diatribe with Lex constantly threatening everyone around him. Why would anyone work for this guy? He's just going to threaten your life by getting "his best people in the world" to take care of you.

The s7 finale? Yawn. Wake me up when they start swinging.

Smallville has departed so far from the Supes mythology that it seems like the last two episodes of s7 are a desperate attempt to get back to it and I'm dying to see how. It CAN'T get any worse than it is now,... right?

Clark is supposed to be in Metropolis, working at the Planet with Lois but instead, he's sitting idle in Smallville, falling all over himself for Lana. Lana and Lex have come to be the most boring characters in this show, every speck of dialog they utter feels like bad soap over-acting. I can totally understand why they would want to leave the show. Their characters are a total joke!
Tom W.'s (now) stilted acting doesn't make me care about his character either. Clark acts like he's half retarted most of the time, just staring off when someone talks to him and he hasn't been doing and Superman-like stuff lately, y'know, like, saving people or stopping bad guys. You're an alien, buddy, sent here to protect mankind, not bail hay and blubber about your girlfriend.

After the death of Jonathan Kent, the show went downhill fast and Jeff Loeb leaving for Heroes sped up that decline.
My g/f and I will still watch Smallville's 8th season, only because we've invested so much time in watching what has come before. I hope the writers can get this friggin' show back on track with the Superman mythos.

I didn't sign on to watch Gossip Girl or some other teen/twentysomethings love triangle soap.... I signed on to watch the rise of Clark Kent into Superman, dammit! Now get to it "the CW", the fate of Smallville rests on your shoulders.

Imagine how I feel, my cable company had trouble that night ans I missed this show and the final supernataural as well!

OMG. OMG. OMG. i can't believe i'm saying this. one word for last night's episode: LAME. you call that a "season finale" episode? what a joke! was this filmed before or after MR let his intentions known that he would not guest in S8? how is this ending going to be resolved? is S8 going to open with clark taking a shower only to realize this was all a bad dream a la 'Dallas'?

it seems as if this episode was written without much thought and consideration. further it looks as if the writers were out TOO long on strike and their brains froze and have not had a chance to thaw. please tell me this is the case.

MR deserved to go out with a bigger bang than this. geeze. what a royal let down.

i hope the writers redeem themselves in S8.

So, is the Smallville series all over. Was that just the season finale or the series finale. If it is really over for good that SUCKS!! They leave it too open-ended for it to be totally over!

I love smallville and all that is it it. I watched every episodes of smallville and never missed one. I dont like that smallville is over. I would like cw11 to start smallville again for at least 26 episodes. I love the acting of lex and clark the most. lex acts like he is talking for real. Tom welling persuades me to be like him and lex's dialogues make me watch all of smallville. so please start smallville again. The last 2 line of lex to clark touched my heart and i want it to continue .

i like smallville a lot and i saw all the episodes of smallville. i never missed it. I dont like that its over. Its was entertaining. My brother and i love everything about smallville. I hope that smallville returns again. Tom welling's acting for the good persuades me to be like him. So please start smallville aging at least for 25 episodes. I love all the acters of smallville but specially lex and clark.

I know that many people have thier dislikes about smallville but i happen to really like it. I just hope it never goes off air like other shows that got off air because not too many viewers was not watching it. So even though u may have your dislikes about smallville, keep watching it because you never know what surprising thing could happen as new shows come!

P.S. im really upset to because i missed the last two episodes,i hope they give the two repeats.

i must first say i love smallville! but its the main characters i have grown to love more so losing anymore i don't know what i would do

this season was the most unfulfilled there were too many little stories that went no where
what happened to lex's army
why bring lex's clone brother to the show and then just kill him
what happened to the martian sent to help clark
where was jorel when clark needed him the most

i think that every character has developed in the show except clark he's still the quiet farm boy i mean he's afraid of flying come on thats what he's destined to do and he didn't even try! you turned him into a sissy boy and tried to redeem him by having kill brainiac!

i would be turning in next season but please restore smallville to what fans have grown to love PLEASE!!!!

my fellow smallville fans!
i agree with Jenna, the final scene could have or should have been grander!
however, i did thing this finale was simple.
i applaude the writers and the entire crew for doing a good enough job after the strike.
it would've been great to have a greater season finale, but like i said, simple is good.
i do wish the final scene could have been more dramatic. maybe lex could've been more explosive with his feelings toward clarks true colors.
i'll write a little more in the near future, but i just needed to say 1 more thing...
i know us fans have been saying michael rosenbaum will be sadly missed. but, he will be coming back! it's just, he will have a limited role. like what the facts state...he will not be a regular. but, he will still be there. i'd rather have some lex than no lex...right guys?!

I love the layers between Lex & Clark - adding that line about 'brothers' - maybe a bit on the nose --- but that's what it's about. Lex isn't 'evil' he's doing what he thinks he must and I think that's what makes this show so strong after 7 years - they aren't 'cartoon characters' - they're portrayed with real psychological back stories! SO FUN! Thanks Lex - you're a pleasure to watch!

why is the cow Lois being forced on the viewers. You think I watch Smallville for 7 years so that it would turn into a Lois and Clark series. It was done with a better and sexier Lois than this fake middle aged cow with silicone implants.

I love smallville but i thought the confrontation between clark and lex would have been greater. for me it was a season finale that was a bit anti-climatic...
but i look forward for the new season to see what happens to chloe and jimmy, clark coming into the character of superman and stops being a farm boy etc. I love michael as lex no one can replace him. he captures the cold, calculating manipulative ways of lex sooo good. and hes so sexy to. i will truely miss u michael. do some guest appearances for the fans... go smallville.

the season finale was great
cant wait for it to come back
thank you michael rosenbaum for the 7years on the show
i will miss you i would not be the same
hope you come back for at least a few more show
love nibbi

I liked the episode.
It felt more like any regular episode than season finale, but the last 5 minutes more than made up for it!

I'm completely emotionally satisfied. And as a Clex fan and as a Clois fan I couldn't be happier.

Clex.
Oh where to start. It was so them, and it was so obvious they still care about each other. With Clark trying to reason with Lex until the end, and Lex actually believing he's doing the right thing and being the saviour of mankind. And he wasn't able to leave Clark behind! Because while it was the destroyer and threat to the human race Lex felt he had to destroy, it was Clark, his once best friend and only person who believed in him, that he stayed with. Oh boys. What a Clex send off. ♥

Clois.
Lois cemented her role as Clark's friend and confidant tonight. She had his best interest at heart at all times, and she was there for him when he needed her. She felt his pain, and cried for him, and Clark saw how much she cares for him and let her see his pain and comfort him. It was such a good parallel to Siren, and it was fantastic to see Clark open up to someone and let someone comfort him and share his pain. They are both such guarded individuals, yet they are both comfortable enough to be vulnerable around each other. There was buckets of emotional support in this episode, and that is the foundation of future Clois. They might have just platonic feelings now, but what a strong friendship we've been shown they have. ♥
And I was thrilled to see Lois push Clark to apply for a job at the Daily Planet. How many times has she seen him there, it's no wonder she thinks he might be interested. Plus, it's always nice to see someone believe in him, even without knowing about his powers.

If someone told me I'd like Clana break up not just because it will be a definite, final (!), end to that relationship I would have called them crazy.
But Kristin did a wonderful job and it was a great scene. Poor Clark, he looked so heart broken. When Lois showed up and went to hug him I was barely holding it together.
I must say I didn't see the break up coming, probably because I thought they'd do it face to face and with Kristin in Thailand I didn't expect it. But I'm happy they did it because now we can start fresh next year. It's a shame Kristin wasn't here to end the relationship properly though, so I do hope we'll see them find mutual peace and acceptance about the end of their relationship and move on as friends without any heartache next season.

I also hope poor Kara doesn't end up trapped in the Phantom Zone for a long time.
Bring her back, show needs family dynamic.

Chloe was OK in this episode. It was good to see her be useful when she offered to be the one to stop Kara with the kryptonite.
I can't really see her being arrested as a cliff-hanger, as we know she'll be back next season, so you can bet they'll probably have Ollie get her out of jail offscreen in the first episode.

It was good to see James again. :D
But how could they not realize right away that Kara was Brainiac?
So did Clark destroy Brainiac for good this time? It somehow seemed too easy.

Speaking of too easy - just how naive is Jimmy? Did he really think that Lex Luthor, the guy who killed his father few episodes ago and send his minion after the proof Jimmy had of it, whose minion shot Lois and locked both of them in the freezer and left them to die, *that* Lex freaking Luthor would let him out of the deal they made because his tummy ache?! *head desk*
If Jimmy who just showed up in Metropolis and knew nothing about Lex did that - then OK.
But this just made him look stupid.

And what was with proposal?
While I did find him truthful, it came out of nowhere, made no sense, and took away way too much screen time. Screen time that could have been better spend at that last Clex scene. Especially as this was Michael's last episode. *le sigh*

All in all:
Thank you Michael Rosenbaum for 7 wonderful years!
I hope to bob you'll be back at least for the finale next year.
The show won't be the same without you. ♥
