One Tree Hill: Season Finales Rule! But It'll Be a Long Summer

Happily ever after
Here we were, all worked up, worrying that Peyton would not make it through the One Tree Hill season finale. But as it turns out, Lucas and Peyton and baby Sawyer makes three! They made us sweat it out for about five minutes before we saw that Leyton had a healthy little girl. And just a few minutes later Peyton woke up. So much warm and fuzzy goodness. They name the baby Sawyer Brooke Scott. And Karen finally arrives in Tree Hill...if just for a short time. Everyone thanks her for being an awesome mom.

Mia's new album is released and she prepares to go on tour. Chase tells her that he wants to keep her to himself but is willing to share her for awhile at least. She tells him that even though she'll be touring, her heart will stay in Tree Hill.

And speaking of boring storylines, Millie decides that she doesn't want to be away from Mouth anymore. She wants to move back to Tree Hill and prepares to tell Brooke. But ever the wise sage, Brooke beats her to the punch and tells Millie she needs her to run the shop in Tree Hill. Besides, oh yeah, her boy needs her too.

These two storylines drag out while we wait to see what is going to happen with Skills (and Miss Lauren). But sadly, he didn't appear in the eppie at all.

Meanwhile, poor Nathan has to explain to his son that Nino has been called up and he's still hangin' in the small time. Then to make matters worse, when he arrives back for practice, his locker's been cleaned out. He doesn't play for the Chiefs anymore. Man, we fell for another red herring! He plays for the Charlotte...uh...Bobcats. Our boy made it to the NBA! Best of all, Mouth breaks the news to little Jamie (and the rest of town) during the sports telecast that evening. Gotta admit, we got a little choked up.

All kinds of good things are happening all around Tree Hill so it's kind of a buzzkill to see Dan again, what with the dying and all. He looks terrible, like a dog ate his heart. He searches out Whitey at his cabin. The coach is none too happy to see his old nemesis and tells him he bought his gun in the hope that Dan would come around so he could shoot him for trespassing. But instead of shooting him he listens to the guy cry and ends up telling him that maybe he's still here for redemption. Just as Dan is leaving Whitey's, Nathan pulls up -- he came to tell his coach he made it to the NBA. Dan does not get to share in the celebration.

While he's on his 2009 tour of sadness, Dan stops by to see his new granddaughter. He asks to hold her because she's the only one in his world who doesn't know what he's done. Then as he's leaving the house, he runs into Karen, who burns him with her eyes. It seriously sucks to be Dan Scott.

For some reason, Sam sends Brooke a post card of her new home...across town. Luckily, Julian is there, adoring her. But not for long. After they sleep together he leaves for LA. And speaking of leaving, Victoria is departing Tree Hill again. She tells Brooke that her new designs are great and should stabilize the company. Victoria gives Brooke a laundry list of things to do, including getting on a plane to LA to tell Julian that she loves him.

Apparently Victoria loved a boy when she was young -- and he loved her. But she let him go and has been a regretful, raving bitch ever since. It really explains a lot. But it doesn't end there. Victoria also apologizes for being a terrible mother and not opening up her heart to her daughter, who still managed to grow up great. Then she gives the company back to Brooke -- all of it. She'd rather have her daughter than a company. But Brooke wants her to stay on and run things from New York.

So Brooke high-tails it to Los Angeles, where she gives Julian the surprise of his life. She loves him.

At the end of the episode Lucas and Peyton take their daughter for a spin in the Comet. Sawyer has already grown to the size of a toddler in just a few, short days. Wonder how big she'll be when we kick off season seven? We can't wait.

Since so many fans LOVED the voice-over last week, we figured we'd print up the shared voice-over from the end of the episode:

Take a look at yourself in the mirror. What do you see looking back? Is it the person you want to be? Or is there someone else you were meant to be, the person you should have been but fell short of? Is someone telling you that you can’t or you won’t? Because you can. Believe that love is out there. Believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do. Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from money or fame or power. Sometimes happiness comes from good friends and family and from the quiet nobility of leading a good life. Believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do. So take a look in that mirror and remind yourself to be happy, because you deserve to be, believe that. And believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do.

What did you think of the season finale? Was it better to see wrapped up storylines rather than cliff-hangers? What do you hope to see happen next season?

Naley baby girl! as long as naley are happy and have another baby (girl preferably), i will be happy :]

great season finale... wheres the podcast? we miss it!

i keep hearing that lucas and payton will not be on one tree hill anymore what the heck why would the best number one character chad michael murray not be on the show you should just end the show if hes not gonna be there i am deffintly not watching the show anymore he is the reason i started watching i have posters of him all over my wall PLEASE HAVE CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY ON THE SHOW HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!11111

it was a great season for me, but i mostly watched the show for lucus and peyton. im not watching it next season cause me faves arnt going to be there. it sucks lol im still going to watch, i will be extremely happy if lucus and peyton shows up for a surprising visit atleast

In a world gone mad. I was very happy to see a season finale' that didn't depress me. It was nice to have some happily ever after for once. I am glad that the season was ended on an up note, I know it won't stay that way, but it was really nice.

Can't wait until next season.

this episode is great and i'm so happy peyton and the baby is ok and there is three scotts not one!!! Also i am dissapointed that lucas, peytan, and the baby is not going to be there!!!!:{

What would be totally awesome and completely make the show would be Brooke and Lucas getting together. Everything would be perfect. Thats all I have to say. BRUCAS4e.

err..guys leyton wont b in next season, so neither will the baby.

but the ep was nice. i actually wanna c something rad happen 4 haley though. LOVED brooke as the middle name. lol all the ofspring get the mother last name and best friend as the middle name? coincidence?!!!

cant wait 4 the podcast!

I think they're will be more pregnant people. Brooke and Haley both did it close to the end of the season. I think that they may run off of that. Maybe Brooke will be getting the baby she always wanted. Just a thought.

Next season I would like to see Naley have another baby (A GIRL) Nathan would be awesome with a baby girl. I just hope they are happy.

It was a really good episode. I was just glad that Lucas and Peyton got their happy ending, driving away into the sunset together. In episode 17, Peyton said that if it was a girl she wanted to call her Anna and leave Sawyer for a boy, so I wondered about that. I didn't care as much about how they ended the finale with Naley and Brulian. I didn't like that as far as we know Whitey has no clue that Lucas finally married Peyton. I liked the exchange between Dan and Peyton but was hoping for more Leyton scenes since it was their last episode and more Leyton/Haley and Leyton/Jamie. After all, we have plenty of opportunity to see everyone else next season. I liked the scene with Brooke and Peyton at the house but I did wonder about why Brooke didn't run to her and hug her at the hospital when she woke up; why they all seemed to keep their distance and why they whizzed by those scenes and spent so much time on Dan/Whitey. I also wondered why we didn't see Mia visit Peyton. The ending with them driving away in the car put a smile on my face, but I did worry about the baby's safety. If the Comet already got in one accident and barely survived, what kind of a car is it to put a baby in? I don't think they should have gotten rid of it, but I do think they should have gotten an SUV or something for when they were driving around with the baby. Finally, I loved the final narration with everyone's voices.

Haha actually guys if you think about it, it's 2012 or 2013 in Tree Hill not 2009. Cuz remember it was the 4 yr jump between season 4 and 5? just lettin you know(:

omg. chan and hil won't be back? i didn't know that. but i mean they have to be...it's not much of a show without them...

and does anybody know what the begining song is called?

Thanks for the recap. I knew from the spoilers out there that Peyton and the baby would live. But when Dan appeared, I thought "oh, no, he's going to die tonight." After all, he's almost died during several season closers. I will miss Leyton but excited at the possibility of following Naley in the NBA and Brooke/Julian. But Naley will probably move to Charlotte and Brooke will head to LA, so the show will have to cross time zones to keep this going. I loved Karen and Whitey; Dan apologizing to his former coach, the coach who was BFF with Keith, was tearful. And the cold shoulder Dan got from Nathan, Karen, Lucas and almost Peyton - wow. Yes, that Sawyer grew 6 months in one ep!

Loved this episode but like everyone else was a little disapoointed about the end since Chad and Hil aren't coming back. Loved Brooke and Julian and it was great to see Whitey again...and Dan who i've missed.

Kinda a boring finale

But we won't see how big the baby is in season 7....Hil and Chad won't be back which means we won't see the baby!

I really enjoyed the finale but think it would have been a great SERIES finale instead of just a season finale.

Knowing that Chad and Hilarie aren't coming back next season so this was their last episode I just wish they would have given them more of a goodbye and an actual departure. Them just going for a drive in the car meant nothing... they could just be going to the store. So I'm just wondering how they are going to explain the missing Peyton, Lucas, and Sawyer next season??

I also wish there had been some Peyton/Hayley and Hayley/Lucas scenes. So I just have to say as much as I loved the episode I was also disappointed by a few things.

good episode, but i was hanging on right till the last seconds expecting a car crash in the comet with lucas peyton and sawyer. suppose it's a nice thing they didn't die, but i feel a little let down. hayley's reaction to the nba news... tearssss

I would like to see Lucas and Peyton return in season 7.I would like to see the baby grow up in Tree Hill.I think Brooke and Julian should get married and have a baby of their own.Maybe Sam should return and Brooke follow through with the adoption.I think Millie and Mouth should get engaged.Hailey should focus on her music career now that she is not a teacher anymore.

Loved Naley and Brooke and Julian...have to admit, I thought the Luke/Peyton send off would have been bigger, but it was cool to see them leaving with the River Court in the background. Sorry to say this but "Sawyer Brooke Scott"...thought that was a little much! Especially since they already have "James Lucas Scott"...not original at all! Very excited for Season 7, I was a little hesitant about Chad and Hil not beeing around, but then I started to think about it and more of the Scott Family, Brooke and Julian and Skills, I will def still watch! Looking forward to next season and the possibilities it brings and glad that Peyton and Lucas had a good send off...also, how fantastic was it to see Whitey again! Love him so very much...he was always one of my faves...
