One Tree Hill Podcast: "The Games That Play Us" -- Season One Finale!

Listen Now

We've made it through the entire first season of One Tree Hill! In our final Season One podcast, we discuss the shocking finale, "The Games That Play Us." And play us they did! First, there's Nathan and Haley's surprise announcement that leaves us wondering why they didn't get more screentime for such a major plot development. Then... Keith and Deb!? Really!? No, REALLY!?

The Games That Play Us

Meanwhile, Lucas, Keith and Jake all plan dramatic exits, Dan's season-long evil streak is interrupted by a heart attack, and Brooke concocts a plan to get rid of Nikki -- at least for awhile. We're enjoying how the Scott brothers have gone from enemies to allies, but Lucas's judgy behavior leaves much to be desired. Also, why does everyone leave their doors open in Tree Hill? Maybe we'll find out in Season Two!

Listen to our One Tree Hill podcast for "The Games That Play Us!"

We're taking a break from OTH podcasting to get ready for the new season, but we'll be back when Season Six kicks off in a few weeks. Let us know what you think in the comments!

One Tree Hill Podcast: "The Leaving Song"

Listen Now

The second-to-last episode is a darker one! Mia, Sarah, and I debate the Haley/Nathan porn situation, rage about the Nikki babynapping, and adore Peyton and Brooke's renewed friendship.

The Scott brothers bond

Meanwhile, Dan takes over as coach for Whitey, making Lucas literally sick (and prompting Sarah and I to attempt Whitey imitations), the Scott brothers bond adorably, and we wonder who would win in a Mia/Dan smackdown.

Happy Birthday, James Lafferty!

One Tree Hill’s James Martin Lafferty celebrates his 23rd birthday today! Happy birthday, James!

As the cast’s youngest member (until little Jackson Brundage came along) James was nicknamed “Baby James” by his co-stars. He was just 17 when they shot the One Tree Hill pilot.

You might already know that Chad Michael Murray was originally slated to play Nathan Scott. But because the actor had been abandoned by his mother when he was a child, he felt he could relate to Lucas’s character better. And honestly, could we ever imagine anyone but James playing Nathan?

He was the guy we loved to hate in the first season. Remember how cruel he was to Lucas when he was trying out for The Ravens? But the brothers came together toward the end of season one when they discovered they had a common enemy -- Daddy Dan. And at the end of the first season Nathan did something that changed his life: he married Haley. And his life would never be the same.

One Tree Hill Podcast: "What Is And What Never Should Be"

Listen Now

Poor Nathan! He's trying to do the right thing, but he's slapped with handcuffs as soon as he walks in the door. While he's attempting to bake pretzels, the little gathering at his apartment devolves into the party from hell, thanks to surprise visitors Brooke and Nikki.

Brooke and Nikki crash Haley's party

Pre-party, Brooke is out at a bar shooting down loser-ish guys... but then she ends up leaving with Nikki! Isn't that even worse? Once the trouble-seeking twosome arrives at Nathan's place, it doesn't take long for Lucas's night of passion with Nikki to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Dan doesn't get everything he wants... but he does get Deb (!). And they both looked good in the process. Oh, and Keith plans to leave town -- sporting a clip-on tie, no less!

One Tree Hill Podcast: "How Can You Be Sure?"

Listen Now

Sarah's in shock, but Mia called it: Brooke withholds the truth from Lucas about her "pregnancy" a little too long, causing him to freak out and get slapped by Karen, since he seems to be repeating history. We're impressed by Lucas's stepping up and supporting Brooke... for the most part. Dan, however, is not so supportive when he basically tells Lucas he'd be better off if he didn't exist.

Brooke and Lucas fight

But it's not all pregnancy drama, all the time -- not when Nathan and Haley LOVE EACH OTHER! Squee! Those of you who wanted us to talk more about these two will get your wish this week. We discuss the tattoo's effect on Nathan, Naley's issues with sex (to have it or to wait?), and the adorable declaration of love. So cute!

Oh, and there's some more shady Nikki behavior. We'd rather not discuss her, but Peyton has an awesome eyeliner-related comeback for her that's worth mentioning. Also, where are Jake's parents? We speculate.

Happy Birthday, Sophia Bush!

Happy birthday, Sophia!Sophia Anna Bush celebrates her 26th birthday today! Sophia was born under the sign of Cancer. Typically, Cancers are emotionally intense and deeper than they appear on the surface. They’re super sensitive and understanding once you get through their tough, independent exterior. Does that sound like our girl Brooke Davis or what?

Last year, Sophia spent her 25th birthday whooping it up at a private party in Vegas, but there’s no telling how she’ll be spending her big day this year. We’re thinking that she may lay low and just spend time with friends. According to the humble actress, “People care about my personal life, but I’m really dorky. I drink beer, go to football games and ya know, sit in my house in a T-shirt on the weekends and play with my dog.”

Sophia was born and raised in Pasadena, California. The smart gal attended USC and was even a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she served as social chair (taking control, just like her alter ego, Brooke Davis—Class President at Tree Hill High). In 2000, Sophia was the Tournament of Roses Parade Queen, and two years later she landed her first role on the big screen in the comedy Van Wilder.”

While playing Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill consumes most of her time, Sophia still manages to land plenty of movie roles. She even won three Teen Choice Awards for John Tucker Must Die and The Hitcher. Next up for Sophia? Two movies: The Narrows and a flick called Table for Three, which just finished filming.

One Tree Hill Podcast: "To Wish Impossible Things"

Nathan struts his stuffListen Now

The Boytoy auction results in some unexpected couples, from Brooke and Mouth to Tim and Deb. Oh, and the boys were showing some skin in this episode! Nathan gets shirtless for the Boytoy auction, and Tim strips down to a mere Speedo when he thinks his "date" with Deb will heat up. This is a fun episode... until the last few minutes, when Brooke tells Lucas she's pregnant. We can't believe it -- how will they handle this?

Meanwhile, Keith masters the art of horrible timing, Lucas thinks he's witnessing something shady between Nathan and Peyton (is he? You be the judge), and Brooke takes Mouth out on the town for a night he'll never forget. In this podcast, Sarah, Mia, and I decide who rocked the runway at the Boytoy auction, discuss Karen's new romance with Larry Sawyer, and deduce that Nikki's evil potential in any particular scene is directly proportional to how much eyeliner she's wearing.

One Tree Hill Podcast: "Spirit in the Night"

Listen Now

What a fun episode! We loved seeing the gang head out of town for the big game/cheerleading competition. Brooke really wants to lead her squad to victory, and Peyton wants to get back into Brooke's good graces, so when a cheerleader has to drop out, she gets Haley to step in!

Haley and Nathan

Meanwhile, Haley and Lucas clash about her spending time with Nathan, Mouth has us doubled over in laughter with his dance routine, and Whitey remains eminently quotable. Plus, Tim's strip club goof leads us to find out why Sarah was once kicked out of one. If you haven't seen this episode in awhile, dust off your DVDs and rewatch -- it's one of our favorites so far, and a nice break from all the angst of the past few weeks.

Happy Birthday, Hilarie Burton!

Happy Birthday, Hilarie!Hilarie Burton celebrates her 26th birthday today! With her big day so close to the Independence Day holiday, it’s no wonder that the 4th is her all-around favorite day. She's said: “My birthday is July 1st and my best friend's birthday is July 5th, so it's always been a favorite holiday. It's all about having a cooler full of sodas, hot dogs, and just hanging out and shooting off firecrackers, being low-key, watching the fireworks. There's something about a holiday that isn't all about how much money you spend." We hope Hilarie turns the first week of July into a week full of celebrations!

Hilarie was born in Sterling Park, Virginia. She has three younger brothers, Billy, Johnny and Conrad (she nicknamed them “Billy Awesome,” “Johnny Kickass” and “C-Rock”). She decided early that she wanted to be an actress, so she packed her bags and headed to NYC where she quickly landed an unbelievable gig as an MTV VJ. Interestingly, Hil’s folks wouldn’t allow her to watch the racy channel when she was growing up. Talk about the ultimate rebellion!

It wasn’t long before the folks at Dawson’s Creek spotted her for a guest-starring role on the popular TV show and that role parlayed into her Peyton Sawyer role in One Tree Hill. Let's take a trip down memory lane to remember some of our favorite Peyton moments...

Fighting Words: Leyton's The Ultimate OTH Couple vs. Leyton Needs to Give It Up

Lucas and PeytonIt's Monday, and you know what means -- we're back in the ring for another round of Fighting Words (check out last week's Fighting Words for the scoop on our latest feature)! This week, we take on Lucas and Peyton's relationship on One Tree Hill. Here's the fight:

Lucas and Peyton are the be-all, end-all couple of One Tree Hill. They were set up like that from the beginning, and they have to find their way to each other eventually.

vs.

Lucas and Peyton need to give it up already. Their storylines are so tired, and just because they started out with a connection five seasons ago doesn't mean they should still be together.

And we're off! Post your comments and let us know your take on Leyton! Remember to keep it civil and respect everyone's opinions.

Jackie: Now that we’re going back and watching season one, I can see how the writers originally set up Lucas and Peyton as the be-all, end-all couple of this show. Brooke seems to have been introduced as an afterthought – Peyton’s sassy sidekick, the good-time gal who’s all about fun, while Lucas and Peyton have this amazing CONNECTION that we’re constantly reminded of. But all that changes in later seasons when Lucas and Brooke’s chemistry takes their relationship to a new level and Peyton finds romance with Jake. We see that Lucas and Peyton can, in my opinion, be even better with other people than they were together.

One Tree Hill Podcast: "The First Cut Is The Deepest"

Listen Now

Lucas refusing to do what's best for his health... again? Sheryl Crow reducing Haley to a blubbering fangirl? Keith making his dumbest move yet? An eyeliner addict seducing Lucas on a carousel? Aforementioned eyeliner addict turning out to be Jake's ex?

Lucas and Dan face off

They seem like events we dreamt up, but all of these things happened in "The First Cut Is The Deepest," a rage-inspiring episode for some of us (Sarah), and a controversial one for everyone. We think Brooke has every right to be angry right now (and she's got the best look of contempt we've ever seen), wish Nathan and Haley had way more screen time, and don't like where this Nikki plot is going... not one bit. Listen to our One Tree Hill podcast for "The First Cut Is The Deepest!"

One Tree Hill's Lindsey Going to SVU; What Will Lucas Do?

Michaela as Lindsey on OTHOne Tree Hill's season finale left us wondering who Lucas called, and some of us at CW Source Central were convinced it was Lindsey (he still seemed to be in love with her; she broke his heart, etc.). But TVGuide's latest casting scoop makes it look like Lucas and Lindsey don't have much of a future together -- that's because Michaela McManus, who played Lindsey on Season Five, is heading to Law and Order: Special Victims Unit as the assistant district attorney! We're happy for Michaela, but we wonder where this leaves OTH. Will we see Lindsey again in Tree Hill? Will Lucas be even more brokenhearted than he was for most of Season Five? And are you happy about this development, or will you miss Lindsey?

CW Stars Up for Multiple Teen Choice Nominations

Eonline reports that Gossip Girl received a whopping 14 Teen Choice nominations, including Best Drama, Best Breakout Show, and Choice TV Actor/Actress.

It's true that GG is everywhere on the list of nominations. All three female leads (Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Taylor Momsen) are up for Best Breakout Female Star, and we were especially excited to see Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass nominated for Choice TV Villain along with Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum. But One Tree Hill also earned its fair share of nominations, including Choice TV Drama, Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush for Choice TV Actress and Chad Michael Murray for Choice TV Actor. Our complaint: where are James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti? They deserve some noms, too!

Other shows represented include America's Next Top Model (Cycle 10 winner Whitney is up for Choice TV Female Reality Star, Tyra is up for Choice TV Personality, and the show itself is in the running for Choice TV: Reality Beauty and Makeover), Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (for Reality Music Competition), and Smallville (Choice TV Show Action/Adventure, Choice TV Actor/Actress Action/Adventure for Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk). Even Beauty and The Geek made the list with a nomination for Choice TV: Reality Beauty & Makeover.

Notably absent from the list: Supernatural and Reaper. And what about Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America, Girlfriends, and The Game? We think these shows were seriously overlooked -- do you agree?

Let us know what you think of the nominations in the comments!

One Tree Hill Podcast: "Suddenly Everything Has Changed"

Brooke finds out the truthWow. Just... wow. Lucas is out of the hospital recovering from his recent car accident, and now that he's conscious again, he has to deal with the two women in his life. Brooke's doing her best to be a good girlfriend, but little does she know that Lucas and Peyton are still hooking up behind her back. And when the truth does come out, it's in the worst possible way... leading all of us to rant about how horribly this situation was handled.

Meanwhile, Nathan's being pulled in two directions by Dan and Deb, whose impending divorce is getting ugly. Good thing he has his relationship with Haley to distract him -- and speaking of Hales, we get to hear her sing! Oh, and Karen and Keith reconcile, but they're in a different place than they were before her trip to Italy.

OTH's Bethany and James: Castmates With Perfect Chemistry

We can't argue with this: James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti are on EW.com's list of Castmates with Chemistry for their portrayal of Nathan and Haley. Fan Sarah had this to say: "They just have this simple grace, comfort, and pureness to the way they portray this couple. They never cease to amaze, and really bring it each week." We couldn't have said it better!

Kudos to James and Bethany -- their chemistry got us hooked on Naley, and their acting keeps us glued to the TV. They've definitely earned this!

One Tree Hill Podcast: "I Shall Believe"

Time for another Season One OTH podcast! This week, the Brooke/Peyton/Lucas triangle takes a backseat to some life-threatening drama when Lucas is hospitalized and unconscious after the car crash.

Lucas has everyone worried

Haley beats herself up over her fight with Lucas and avoids Nathan, Brooke puts her foot in her mouth when she tries to bond with Karen, and Keith is exiled from the hospital room. Plus, Dan actually gets a hug... and then gets served!

Antwon Tanner Talks to Jason C.

As we all know, Antwon Tanner is the bomb. We caught up with him at the Entertainment Weekly party a few weeks ago and he was cracking us up again talking about the Skills/Deb hookup:
