The CW Star of the Week: Sean Gunn

Sean Gunn

Where you can catch him: As Kirk Gleason on Gilmore Girls, Tuesdays at 8/7c

Why we heart him: While the rest of Gilmore fandom debates over the likes of Christopher and Luke, we stick with Kirk. Sure, he's not the coolest cat in the hat... And perhaps in real life we would reject him on the account of his weirdness... But, in the end, we can always count on his good, kind heart.

Plus, we secretly have a thing for Leno-esque chins.

It's in his blood: The pride of St. Louis has four brothers that are in the acting biz. (On the other hand, his only sister is a lawyer. But the courtroom has its own share of theatrics, don't ya think?) His writer-slash-director bro James is married to Jenna Fischer from The Office. Holidays must be a stitch at the Gunn household!

The CW Star of the Week: Bud the Dog

Shelby
Who's Bud the Dog? Bud plays Shelby (also known as Einstein and Krypto) on Smallville, Thursdays 8/7c.

Hmm... I don't recall... Bud's been around for a while, but has been MIA this season. However, he graced us with his presence once again at the end of "Labyrinth," much to the joy of Shelby fans everywhere!

What was Bud up to while on sabbatical? Not much. According to his IMDB and TV.com profiles, Smallville is his only professional gig to date. It's really a shame. We think Shelb's da bomb!

The CW

Every week we highlight a CW star we lurve - and hope that you lurve him or her too. But now we want to do something a little different. We want to feature frequent posters and CW fans like yourselves. After all, these actors and actresses we've been featuring are only on the telly because you watch them!

How can you be featured here in this space? Well, send us your name, age, hometown, a hot pic (but not TOO hot; kids hang out here) and why you love The CW to us at cwsource@gmail.com. Every week or so we'll feature one awesome fan. Could he or she be you? E-mail us today and find out!

The CW Star of the Week: Jay Manuel

Jay Manuel

Where you can check him out: On America's Next Top Model, season finale this Wednesday at 8/7c!

Why we heart him: With his help, the wannabe models take their game to the next level with his make-up advice and industry insight. Plus, the boy keeps it real! He also has his head firmly screwed on, unlike another judge who shall remain anonymous (hint: name starts with a T, ends in an A, and there's a YR in the middle).

Did you know? The Canadian turned to fashion and aesthetics when his medical school and opera career dreams fell through. But things didn't turn out so bad after all, did they, Jay? We think he's pretty happy with the way things turned out after all.

For more Jay, visit his Web site, www.jaymanuel.com.

The CW Star of the Week: Melissa Peterman

Melissa Peterman
Birth name: Melissa Margaret Peterman

Where you can catch her: As Barbra Jean on the newly revived Reba, Sundays at 7/6c

Why we heart her: We love having Reba back, but we missed BJ even more! Her scenes are too hilarious, quite often bordering on the insane. We often find ourselves missing the rest of the scene because Peterman's comedic delivery has us in stiches!

Did you know? She's from Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from Minnesota State University. She made her film debut as "Hooker #2" in the famous movie Fargo (which, by the way, we LOVED). In her spare time she writes plays and takes care of her 1-year old son, Riley David.

For even more Melissa, check out melissapeterman.net. It's one rockin' fansite!

Now, a message from the fab lady herself!

The CW Star of the Week: Enrico Colantoni

Enrico Colantoni
Who is he? He's the heroine's father on Veronica Mars, airing Tuesdays at 9/8c

Why do you heart him? We've loved him since his days on the sitcom Just Shoot Me, which, by the way, we watched in spite of David Spade. Anyhoo, we like how he portrays such a caring father figure to Veronica despite his difficulties in solving his own crimes. We hear being a single father is no piece of cake, and Enrico wears the role well.

Some tidbits about the only 'rico who's suave to us: The Yale grad loves hockey which means, yes, he's Canadian! Haha. The Toronto Maple Leafs are his favorite team. Admittedly, we here at The Source are not so enamored with the sport, but we do appreciate his dedication to causes such as helping at-risk youth. Check out this site for more info on Inner City Arts, where Enrico teaches drama.

The CW Star of the Week: Annette O'Toole

Annette O'Toole

Birth name: Annette Toole

Where you can catch her: On Smallville, Thursdays at 8/7c

Why we heart her: O'Toole's ferocious, tenacious and yet precious as Clark's mother. Her Martha is heroic by leading by example, which we know doesn't get so much attention in this world. But we notice!

Our favorite factoids about O'Toole: She's an original song Oscar nominee for writing "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" with her husband (and former Smallville-r), Michael McKean. You can hear that tune in the movie A Mighty Wind - which, by the way, is ridiculously hilarious! A must-see on DVD! Anyway... AO'T also played Lana Lang in Superman III. Maybe she shared some of her acting tips with Kristin Kreuk, the show's current LL?

Is AO'T your favorite Martha Kent? Why or why not? Do you think Martha trusts Lionel too much? Or are they Smallville's next hot new "it" couple? And wouldn't it be nice if Perry White returned somehow? We hope he does soon!

October 23, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Stephen Collins

Stephen Collins
Birth name: Stephen Weaver Collins

Where you can catch him: As Reverend Eric Camden on 7th Heaven, Sundays at 8/7c

Why we heart him: If Tom Hanks wasn't already crowned Hollywood's Top Nice Guy, we'd give
the title to Stephen, whose career spans decades. Not only is he an actor, but he's also a musician and author of two novels, Eye Contact and Double Exposure.

Did you know? You can see him next in the upcoming Warner Bros. release Blood Diamond, co-starring Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly and Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio. Not too shabby!

For more about Stephen, check out his official Web site!

Do you dig The Rev as much as we do? Is he your favorite character on 7th? He's definitely ours!

October 16, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Lee Norris

Lee Norris
Full name: Lee Michael Norris

Where you can catch him: As the lovable Mouth McFadden on One Tree Hill, Wednesdays at 9/8c

Why we heart him: Because Lee's Mouth is sweet, kind, intelligent and overall just such a great friend.

Actually, Mouth would get very mad if we said that to him, but what he doesn't realize is that's what the chicks really like once they’ve left high school. Don't worry, Mouth. You'll get your gal!

Did you know? In addition to stints on Boy Meets World and The Torkelsons, Lee was on Dawson's Creek! The North Carolina native and Wake Forest grad starred in a couple of episodes along with fellow OTHers Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton.

Want more Lee? Check out this video interview!

Do you like Mouth as much as we do? Do you think he will find "the one" for him this year? Does he even stand a chance with hotties like Nathan and Lucas around?

October 10, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Erica Durance

Erica Durance
Name: Erica Durance

Who is she? She's Lois Lane on Smallville, Thursdays at 8/7c.

Why we heart her: We love all the ladies of Smallville (we really do!), but we like Lois because she's a little rough around the edges. She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken.

Style file factoid: Erica originally auditioned with darker hair, but the producers wanted a different look for their Lois. For more interesting tidbits about ED, check out this video interview!

For die-hard fans: The Butterfly Effect 2 is out on DVD today!

Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season? Or are you hoping our hero finally gets his act together, quits the chicks for a while and starts saving the world full-time?

October 2, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Jason Dohring

Jason Dohring
Birth name: Jason William Dohring

Who is he? He stars as Logan Echolls, V. Mars' main squeeze, on Veronica Mars, network premiere tomorrow night at 9/8c!

Why we heart him: We always hear about the other Logan on The CW, but this Logan is the one we'd really like to snog!

What you should know about him: He has two sets of identical twin siblings, his dad is chairman of the company that spawned those evil Neopets and he's a Scientologist.

Looking forward to the premiere of Mars? Who or what would you like to see go down in Neptune this season? Did you hate Neopets as much as we did?!\

MORE: Check out TVGuide.com for even more Jason Dohring dish!

September 25, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Kelly Bishop

Kelly Bishop
Birth name: Carole Bishop

Where you can check her out: On Gilmore Girls, season premiere tomorrow night at 8/7c!

Why we heart her: While the series has had its ups and downs, you can always count on KB to pull out all the stops as Lorelai's wicked mother, Emily Gilmore. While she's not new to playing a mom (see Dirty Dancing, Private Parts, Wonder Boys), her current portrayal is definitely one of the most memorable on TV today.

Did you know? Her first love is the theater, and she is also an animal activist. More notably, in interviews she clearly is nothing like Emily - which is why they call it acting!

September 18, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Twiggy

TwiggyBirth name: Leslie Hornby

How did she get her nickname? The label refers to the thin frame she had back in the '60s that made her the most popular model of her time.

Where is she now? She's now a judge on America's Next Top Model, two-hour network premiere Wednesday, September 20 at 8/7c!

Why we heart her: It's tempting to hate the woman who started the skinny model trend, but let's face it - it wouldn't have exploded if a good number of people didn't embrace it. She's also a Tony Award-nominated actress and singer, and almost no one has aged as gracefully as she has. Must be that good attitude of hers, which is apparent on the ultra-competitive Top Model.

Did you know? She dedicates her spare time to anti-fur campaigning and raising breast cancer awareness. Angelina Jolie ain't the only one doing good, people!

September 11, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Batista

Name: Batista

Where you can catch him: On Friday Night Smackdown, network premiere Friday, September 22 at 8/7c

Why is he this week's star? Um, because we didn't want to be the victim of the Batista Bomb!

Did you know? Word on the street is The Big B will be showing up on Smallville sometime in November. The crafty cameo ideas from The CW continue!

September 5, 2006

The CW Star of the Week: Joho

Paul Johansson
Full name: Paul Joseph Otto Johansson

Where you can see him: On One Tree Hill, season premiere Wednesday, September 27 at 9/8c

What would you watch at a Paul Johansson screening party? He's also appeared in Soapdish, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, When the Party's Over, 7th Heaven, The Drew Carey Show, and The Notebook.

Why we heart him: Can you imagine anyone else playing devilish Dan Scott? The character is his, and his alone. Do you loathe him as much as we do? Can Dan ever be trusted - or redeemed?

Did you know? He won a Outstanding Writing Daytime Emmy award in '03 for The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie. PJ's a triple threat - writer, actor and director!

August 28, 2006

The CW Star of the Week

Tracee
Name: Tracee Ellis Ross

Where you can catch her: On Girlfriends, season premiere Sunday, October 1 at 8/7c

Where else you can see her in action: Hanging Up, Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls in '07

Why we heart her: How can you not love this Renaissance woman? In addition to her current gig, the Brown University grad also has modeled and served as a contributing editor for Mirabella and New York magazines.

Did you know? She's the daughter of the legendary Diana Ross. Well, you probably knew that. But it's always nice to see next of kin make names for themselves as well.

August 21, 2006

The CW Star of the Week

Tom
Name: Tom Welling

Where you can catch him: On Smallville, season premiere Thursday, September 28 at 8/7c

Where else you've seem him: Judging Amy (Season 2), Undeclared, The Fog, Cheaper by the Dozen 1 & 2

Why we heart him: Those blue eyes! That hot bod! And he can act his socks off too. But can he convincingly complete Clark Kent's journey from boy to man this upcoming season? We shall see...

Did you know? Tommy was a goalkeeper for his high school soccer team and apparently was quite good. But what isn't he great at?
