The House may vote on a Democratic energy bill that would open at least some of the waters 50 miles off the U.S. coasts to oil drilling.
The Labor Department is releasing the Consumer Price Index for August.
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is discussing the economy and the housing market.
Republican John McCain is campaigning today in Tampa and later with his running mate Sarah Palin in Vienna, Ohio. Democrat Barack Obama is in Golden, Colo., while his running mate, Joe Biden, is in Media, Pa.
