Here are a few Washington events of note for Monday, October 6.
It's the first Monday in October and the Supreme Court opens its new term with arguments in three cases, including one whether tobacco companies are liable in state law suits over claims that labels on their products make misleading health claims.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is holding a hearing on the collapse of Lehman Brothers.
President Bush is speaking in Cincinnati on his administration's judicial accomplishments and philosophy.
The American Gas Association is discussing its outlook for natural gas prices this winter.
