On the WGN Evening News, we checked out a couple places to get some unusual pizza toppings here in Chicago. Websites, addresses, phone numbers, and my thoughts on both Piece and Ian's Pizza is right after the jump!
Piece

Piece is home to the famous Clam and Bacon white pizza. The folks over there told me that clam is very popular on the east coast, which makes a lot of sense. Not being much of a clam fan myself, I was a little skeptical, but it completely won me over. Be sure to sprinkle some of that lemon juice on your slice, it almost turns it into saganaki! Prices range between
Ian's Pizza

Ian's is the spot for people who like to think outside the box with their pizza. Their best seller is the Mac & Cheese pizza, but my favorite has to be the Mexicano - loaded with pico de gallo, sour cream, crushed tortilla chips, and more. The downside with Ian's is that they're not open for lunch, but they are open during Cubs game days (obviously).
If you know of a place that I HAVE to check out, be sure to let me know. Or maybe you have a crazy homemade recipe for pizza that we just have to try out? Leave a comment below!

Have you tried Pizza Capri? They have a potato and chicken pizza, Thai pie chicken pizza, and more. They have a website good pizza there too
Venture north to The Silo in Lake Bluff (Route 176 just west of Route 41). They serve a seafood pizza that will melt in your mouth! Or, try one of several other specialty pizzas that are just as uniquely delicious.
Marcus, great unusual pizza segment but I have one more you've got to try!

Try the Crabcake or Eggplant Parmesan.....and how can you pass up trying a pizza called the Monkey Mango? They're all delicious...you won't regret it! :)
Pronto 'Za is great, how about their popeye pesto, a white sauce pie with spinach, toasted pine nuts, parmesan and olive oil....delicious!
Glad someone suggested Pronto 'Za. It's my favorite place for oddball pizza when my tastebuds are bored with the run of the mill sauce and toppings. They offer either white or wheat dough, anything but red sauce, you can get pizza buy the slice were they test out new pizza combos and they have a lot of pizzas that are vegetarian friendly.
My personal faovrite's:
Great Scott!
Crabcake
Worth checking out. You can order online. It's so good my cousin eats there about twice a week for the buy the slice selection.
You're right, Monica, Pronto 'Za deserves recognition! The Mad Nanny is my personal fav - but I've seen some crazy stuff over there on top of pizzas. They had a Jive Turkey pizza for Thanksgiving with gravy for sauce and the whole Thanksgiving feast on top (including stuffing balls!)
I agree with Monica...Pronto'Za has very unusual but great pizza. I really like the Popeye Pesto Pizza, but all the ones I have tried have not disappointed. Their cookies are great too!
Yes. Love Pronto 'Za. The Eggplant Parmesan is the bomb!
I've never tried Pronto 'Za but it sounds delicious! I'm going to try one of their crabcake pizza's this weekend. I've been to both Ian's and Piece, and they are just okay. This place sounds it's gourmet pizza and tasty! I'll save room for a cookie too! Why didn't WGN miss the boat on this establishment?
