Crosstown Classic: Where to watch the White Sox beat the Cubs!

|
cubs sox.jpgAdmittedly, baseball hasn't been that much fun to watch on either side of town, but it's time for the rare mid-week Crosstown Classic. Maybe the brother-against-brother battle will lead to less bloodshed on a work day? Yeah, I doubt it. But many of you are going to be getting out of the house this week to catch YOUR team take on its cross-city rival. Sox fan - this blog is for you. If you want to get out of the house and cheer on the pale hose with your fellow black shirts, here are a few options for ya!

Cork & Kerry
10614 S. Western
Chicago

What better place to cheer on the Sox than a Irish sports bar in Beverly? Cork & Kerry's bar itself might be a little on the small side, but they have a year round beer garden. Oh, and you can't forget beers ranging between $2-5 dollars (much better than the $6-8 you'll spend in Wrigley Field).

Shoeless Joe's
10290 W. Higgins Rd.
Rosemont

For those of you Sox fans out in the suburbs, Shoeless Joe's in Rosemont is an easy pick. How does 30 TV monitors and 4 large screen projectors sound? Being named after the team's legendary anti-hero, something tells me they'll have the Sox game here. They offer steaks, pastas and burgers to go along with the 15 plus beers generally on tap.

Mitchell's Tap
3356 S. Halsted
Chicago
(773) 927-6073

I've hyped Mitchell's on WGN before, and for good reason. I just really like the place. It's a few blocks down from U.S. Cellular Field and still feels like your everyday neighborhood tavern. They offer daily specials on cheap stuff like PBR, but if you are a beer aficionado, they also carry a heavy dose of craft brews. How does upwards of 30 different varieties sound?

Schaller's Pump
3714 S. Halsted
Chicago
773-376-6332

How can you mention the White Sox and forget Schaller's Pump? You can't. The Bridgeport bar is the oldest in Chicago, having opened in 1881. Over the years politicians have been known to broker some backroom deals here. The place just feels like history, and they serve up a mean corned beef and cabbage.

Coming up next...where to watch the Cubs beat the White Sox (sorry, we're equal opportunity offenders on the Leshock Value blog).
