The Bulls let one get away to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday at the Palace in Auburn Hills, losing 95-93. It was a bittersweet homecoming for Ben Wallace, who was hoping to silence the Piston crowd with a Bulls win.

Game Notes For Thursday @ Cleveland

* Cleveland has won five of the last six from Chicago, but the sole loss came in the last meeting on Dec. 30 at the United Center. The Bulls have lost in each of their last six trips to Cleveland. * The Cavaliers have won five of their last six games overall and three straight and five of their last six at home. * The Bulls are looking for back-to-back wins for only the second time this month (also Feb. 2-3). Chicago has dropped five of its last seven, although one of the wins came at Phoenix. * In the 2003 NBA draft, the Cavaliers selected LeBron James first overall and the Bulls nabbed Kirk Heinrich with the seventh pick. That draft also included Carmelo Anthony (third to Denver), Chris Bosh (fourth to Toronto), Dwyane Wade (fifth to Miami) and Josh Howard (29th to Dallas). James has outscored Hinrich in their 13 all-time meetings by 11.7 points per contest (26.2 to 14.4) and is 9-4 in those head-to-head contests. * On Tuesday, the Bulls held the Hawks without a field goal in the third quarter. Chicago is 26-4 this season when leading after three periods.

Trade Winds

The NBA's trade deadline is Thursday afternoon and all eyes remain on Chicago to see if the Bulls will pull the trigger on any deal - big or small. It was the obvious topic of conversation at practice on Wednesday, where the prevailing opinion appears to be that nothing much is going to happen.

To Trade, or Not to Trade...That Is The Question

You hear a lot of talk about a trade for Pau Gasol and others around the league. I would like to see a trade, but I wouldn't want to give up who the other teams want us to give up. We've got a nice core of young kids here. You've got Nocioni, Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich. They would be, at this stage, untouchable, because they're the future of this team...good young players, core players.

The Bulls need somebody. There was talk of Kevin Garnett, but you'd have to give up the same guys. It doesn't look like anything's gonna be done before the trade deadline. It it is, it'll be something like a band-aid type of move.

Over the years, I've seen Wilt Chamberlain traded, Shaq traded, seen a lot of good ball players move around that you think are untouchable. You gotta have something in return. You can't drain the franchise. They can't give up, for one player, two or three players that are gonna be around for 8, 9 or 10 years.

Game Notes For Tuesday vs. Hawks

* Chicago will be looking to extend its winning streak to 10 against Atlanta. The Hawks have not beaten the Bulls since a 116-101 victory on April 9, 2004. * The Hawks have won three of their last four games while the Bulls have dropped five of their last six. * Chicago has allowed 100 points or more in five of its last six games. * Luol Deng has scored at least 20 points in five of his last six games. * Atlanta is 6-1 in its last seven road games, with five of its six victories coming by six points or less. * The Bulls have the second-lowest opponent field goal percentage in the league this season (43.7%). * Josh Smith is averaging 20.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks over his last six games.

Game Notes For Tuesday vs. Toronto

* The Bulls will be looking for their 16th straight victory over the Raptors. Ironically, before this stretch, Chicago lost their previous 16 contests with Toronto. * Toronto has matched its win total from last season and has won 10 of its last 13 games, including four of six on the road. * The Bulls have gone 15-1 at home this season against the Eastern Conference. * The Raptors have averaged just 11.7 turnovers since January 23 (nine games) – the second fewest in the NBA over the stretch (Mavericks 10.4). * The Bulls have gone 13-3 this season when Ben Gordon has dished out at least five assists. * Chris Bosh has scored at least 20 points in each of Toronto’s last 14 victories, averaging 27.5 points in those games.

How Low Can You Go?

Getting scoring from the low post...that would be the biggest area where the Bulls could improve and that would open things up on the outside a little bit more.

But in general, they're improving nicely on defense as the season is moving along.

Game Notes For Thursday @ Kings

* Sacramento has won 14 of the last 15 meetings between these teams, including seven in a row at Arco Arena. The Bulls haven't won at Sacramento since Novenber 23, 1997. * Ron Artest has scored over 20 points in each of his last five games. Artest is averaging 24.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in his last two meetings with the Bulls. * Chicago is just 8-15 on the road this season compared to 20-6 at home. * The Kings will be seeking their fourth-straight win. * Kevin Martin has made at least 50% of his field goal attempts in each of the last six games. * Kirk Hinrich has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five games (22.8 PPG). * The Bulls are 19-4 this season when hitting the century mark. * Mike Bibby is averaging 24.4 points in his last five meetings with Chicago.

Home is Where the Wins Are

It's the familiarity of being home that makes the difference. When you're home, the fans are cheering for you. You think when you're playing basketball all the time you're going 100%, but probably on the road, you're only going about 75%, but you think it's maximum.

And at home, something else...the crowd, the band. You walk out during introductions and you start perspiring...by the time you tip off, you're really ready to go.

I think the preparation you have at home for yourself is one of the biggest factors in explaining why you play better at home than on the road.

Duhon Overdue

I think Chris Duhon's a big key to the Bulls off the bench, especially with Ben Gordon in the starting lineup.
The Bulls need more scoring off the bench than what Andres Nocioni can provide. They need someone else to complement that. Duhon's starting to get back some of this confidence. I talked to him after the game and he said, "Boy, I needed that !!" It was good for his confidence.

The Bulls have got to take care of business on the road and that means beating teams like Seattle and tonight, Portland is another of those teams. You take your chances against Utah and hopefully beat Sacramento and Golden State before ending the 7-game trip in Phoenix a week from tomorrow.

Red Remembers

I've got a special place in my basketball heart for the city of Seattle. I can remember flying in here for the Final Four back in 1952. That was the year Illinois was playing in it along with St. John's, Kansas and Santa Clara...many, many years ago. It was an awful lot of fun and I've got a lot of great memories here.
