Derrick's Debut

It's no surprise everyone will be talking about Derrick Rose today after he got the Bulls off to a good start last night.

One person I think will really benefit from Derrick's arrival is Tyrus Thomas. We've seen what Chris Paul has done for Tyson Chandler's game in New Orleans and I think Derrick can do that for Tyrus. Derrick's teammates know that if you hustle and run down the floor, you'll be rewarded with a great feed.

Bulls Win Opener

Opening Night

We're all excited to have Opening Night on WGN-TV. It's a coming out party for Derrick Rose. To me it looks like the team will need to learn to adjust to playing with Derrick, not vice versa. He has the potential to make everyone on the court better.

It's too early so say Vinny Del Negro has a set "coaching style". One thing I've seen, though, is that Vinny is a very good communicator, regardless of whether he has a postive or negative message to get across with his players.

Guardedly Optimistic

We'll be watching the Bulls guards carefully as the season kicks off. Ben Gordon looks like he has regained his scoring touch, even if he hasn't played much in the preseason. I know he loves to start, but he can score whenever he's in there.

A Rose is a special thing, whether it's at the Kentucky Derby or being handed out on Mother's Day. Our Derrick Rose is every bit as special as that and tonight he gets the chance to prove it.

NBA Central Division Notes

and 16 appearances in 2007. Chicago Bulls – The Bulls shot just .435 from the field last season, compared to .457 in 2006-07. The .022 decline was the largest in the league in 2007-08.

Cleveland Cavaliers – The Cavaliers won 28 games in which they trailed at some point in the fourth quarter, 10 more than any other team in the league last season.

Detroit Pistons - The Pistons have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in each of the past six seasons. Since the NBA adopted conference play in 1970-71, no other team from the East has advanced to six consecutive conference finals. The only team from the West to do so was the Los Angeles Lakers, who made eight straight trips to the conference finals from 1981-82 to 1988-89.

Indiana Pacers – Mike Dunleavy scored at least 30 points seven times following last season’s All-Star break. Prior to that, Dunleavy reached 30 points just four times in 452 career games played.

Milwaukee Bucks – Michael Redd averaged 20 points for the fifth straight season in 2007-08. Glenn Robinson (7) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6) are the only players in Bucks’ history to average at least 20 points in more seasons.
