Game Notes: February 2011 Archives

* The Bulls have won seven of their last nine games against Washington, including each of the two meetings between the teams so far this season.

* The Wizards have lost five straight and 14 of their last 16 games, while allowing 111.4 points during their current five-game slide.

* Chicago has won six of its last seven games and will be looking to extend its current win streak to three in a row. The Bulls are holding their opponents to 92.5 points on the season - the second-lowest mark in the league.

* John Wall has scored 20+ points in three straight and four of his last five games. Wall had reached the 20-point mark just six times in his first 41 games of the season. 

* Derrick Rose is averaging 27.4 points in his last five road games and 26.4 points in his last five games against Washington.

* Joakim Noah is averaging 13.7 rebounds per game in his three games since returning from thumb surgery.

* Chicago has won two straight over the Bucks, who won the previous three games in the series. Going back to the 2006-07 campaign, the Bulls are 12-5 against Milwaukee.

* The Bulls are allowing 88.2 points per game in their wins this season, as opposed to 103.4 ppg in their losses. That 15.2 ppg differential is second-largest in the NBA (when allowing more ppg in losses).

* Milwaukee is averaging a league-low 18.4 assists per game this season.

* Kyle Korver has made at least one three-pointer in 19 straight games. That is the third-longest active streak in the NBA.

* Derrick Rose is on pace to be the first guard since Michael Adams in 1990-91 to average 25 points and eight assists per game in a season (primary career position is guard).

* Brandon Jennings has had a steal in 10 straight games. That is the third-longest active streak in the NBA.

* The Bulls lead the season series with the Heat, one game to none, winning the lone meeting between the teams this season, 99-96, in Chicago.

* Miami beat Sacramento by 20 points at home (117-97) in its first game after the All-Star break. The Heat have now won three in a row and 11 of their last 12 games.

* In its first game after the All-Star break, Chicago lost at Toronto, 118-113. Still, the Bulls have won seven in a row at home where they are an Eastern Conference-best, 25-4.

* LeBron James and Derrick Rose are the only number one overall picks of the 2000s to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

* LeBron James missed the Heat-Bulls matchup earlier this season with a sprained ankle. Last season in the first round of the playoffs against Chicago, James averaged 31.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game.

* Derrick Rose is averaging an Eastern Conference-high 28.3 points per game in the month of February.

* The Spurs won the previous meeting between these teams, 103-94 in San Antonio on November 17, and are looking to sweep their season series with the Bulls for the third time in the least four seasons. Chicago won both games between these clubs in 2009-10.

* San Antonio is playing its ninth consecutive game away from home and is 6-2 on its current road trip. The Spurs last five wins on this trip have each come by at least 10 points.

* The Bulls have won 14 of their last 15 home games, allowing less than 100 points in each of those contests. Chicago's 24-4 record at home this season is the best in the Eastern Conference and second best in the NBA, behind San Antonio's 25-2 mark.
* Derrick Rose has averaged 30.0 points on 56.0 percent shooting from the field in his last two games against the Spurs. Rose averaged just 11.7 points on 36.4 percent shooting in his first three career games against San Antonio.
* Tim Duncan has recorded a double-double in nine consecutive road games against the Bulls. Duncan has three double-doubles in his last five games overall.
* DeJuan Blair has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in six straight games and his 11.0 rebound-per-game average in February ranks seventh in the NBA.

* Charlotte has won each of the two matchups between these teams this season, however, each of the two games have been decided by a total of just six points.

* The Bobcats have won each of their last two games after winning just two of their previous eight contests. Charlotte defeated the Lakers on Monday and is 4-12 in the second of back-to-back games this season.

* The Bulls have won 13 of their last 17 games, however, two of their losses in that span have come against the Bobcats.

* Gerald Wallace has scored at least 20 points in three of his last four games. Wallace has been held to 15 points or less in each of his last four meetings with the Bulls.

* Derrick Rose is averaging 27.2 points in his last nine home games and led all scorers with 33 points in the last meeting between these teams on January 18.

* The Bulls will be looking to extend their current home winning streak to six in a row. At 23-4 Chicago owns the second-best home record in the NBA this season.

* Having won their last two meetings with Chicago, the Jazz now own a 43-42 edge in the all-time series. But that doesn't include the Bulls' victories over Utah in the 1996-97 and 1997-98 NBA finals.

* Despite losing their last two games, the Bulls have outrebounded their opponents in each of the past six. Chicago has not dropped three in a row at any point this season.

* After beating Sacramento on Monday, the Jazz seek their first multi-game winning streak since January 14. Utah has outscored each of its last eight opponents in the paint.

* This will be Carlos Boozer's first chance to face his former teammates since leaving the Jazz after last season. In his last two games versus Utah in 2004 (with Cleveland), Boozer averaged 26.5 points and 15.5 rebounds.

* With 36 points and six assists on Monday, Derrick Rose has surpassed 1,200 points and 400 assists for the third time in three pro seasons. He's the first player in 2010-11 to achieve both totals.

* The last time he faced the Bulls last March, Deron Williams scored 28 points and added 17 assists. It's the only time in his career that he's achieved both of those totals in the same game.

* While the Bulls won their last game against the Trail Blazers in November by a score of 110-98, the Trail Blazers have won the last three meetings, and nine of the past 11, in Portland.

* Chicago's six-game winning streak ended in a 101-90 loss at Golden State on Saturday. It was the Bulls' largest margin of defeat since December 3.

* The Trail Blazers hit 63 percent of their three-pointers on Saturday, their highest rate in over two years (January 7, 2009). They also scored at least 100 points for the first time in six games while beating Cleveland, 111-105.

* The last time he faced Portland last February 21, Carlos Boozer was a member of the Utah Jazz and established a career high with 23 rebounds. He also threw in 22 points while adding five assists.

* Wesley Matthews matched a career high by sinking 11 field goals in Saturday's victory at Cleveland. His 31 points represented the second-highest total of his career.

* LaMarcus Aldridge totaled 20 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday, reaching those marks for the 17^th time this season. It's the most such games by any Trail Blazer since Zach Randolph recorded 31 of them in 2006-07.

* The Bulls have won five of the last six games in this series.

* Chicago has held 13 straight opponents below 100 points - that is the longest active streak in the league

* The Warriors have held their last two opponents below 100 points (2-0). Golden State is 10-2 when allowing less than 100 points this season, including having won the last five such contests.

* Derrick Rose has three double-doubles in his last four games. He had had just one double-double in his previous 12 contests.

* Luol Deng is averaging 23.7 points on 52.2 percent shooting over his last three games.

* Andris Biedrins has had double-figure rebounds in three straight games. He had had no double-figure rebounding games in his previous 11 contests.

* The Clippers have won three consecutive games against Chicago and will be looking to sweep the season series for the second consecutive season.

* Chicago has won five straight and eight of its last nine games. The Bulls are an Eastern Conference-leading 13-5 against Western Conference opponents this season.

* The Clippers have won nine consecutive home games for the first time since moving to Los Angeles in the 1984-85 season.

* Blake Griffin is averaging 32.4 points and is shooting 60.6 percent from the field over his last five home games. Griffin is averaging 24.8 points at home this season compared to 19.7 points on the road.

* Derrick Rose has led the Bulls in scoring and assists in 25 games this season, the second most by any player in the league (Deron Williams, Uta - 29). Rose led all players with 34 points in the first meeting between these clubs this season.

* Baron Davis is averaging 15.3 points and 8.4 assists in his last nine home games after averaging 7.6 points and 6.5 assists in his previous 12 home games.
