Podcast: Gauging Intensity

On this week's podcast, Len and Bob talk about battling the injury bug and relate some battlefield questions regarding the intensity of the recently-completed Cubs/Sox series, plus some special musings from BB on his return to San Francisco. As always, our super-duper Pod-tacular can be downloaded to your iPod or mp3 player in the audio format, or you can watch our favorite pair via the video version. If you would like, you can watch the podcast on your computer right at your desk.

Thank for watching and listening - let us know what you think.

With all due respect guys: injury bug my foot! Carlos Z misses a couple starts and our lead screw-up Sorry-clowno's on the DL, and you guys talk about an injury bug? Pu-leaze! Instead, our crybaby Cubs seem to have used injuries as an excuse to jump into the tank...AGAIN! Botched baserunning, embarrassing errors of judgement in the field and anemic at-bats seem to have returned to the fold, more than making up for Bozo's Bungling...

I return to my point from last year: the crybaby Cubs acquire mediocre players who seem more interested in their stats and All-Star appearances. These Stat Hounds seem more interested in their lucrative contracts and off-the-field activities than they are about winning games, even against recent mediocre competition. Meanwhile, they've caused even the most rabid rah-rah fan to recoil at their recent repugnant play.

As for Sorry-clowno, some of us didn't want that guy from the beginning and we don't want him now. So while I wish Alflubbo a speedy recovery (so we can trade him to another foolish club), intelligent fans like myself do not consider that an excuse for pathetic play! And our star pitcher missing only 2 starts? Really, c'mon, call it like it is guys! It appears you've been better this year in your analysis, but its obvious that you have some work to do in that area.

So its up to the guys we have NOW on the roster to respond to whatever minor bumps in the road that confront them. Anything else is unacceptable. Its World Series or nothing this season.

The question remains: will the Cubs be Great in '08 or will they be just another copy of the Gutless Wonders that my fellow Cub fans and I have had to endure the last 100 years? Based on current form, I'm betting on the latter.

There is one good thing to come out of this though. I look forward to soccer, football and college basketball more and more every year. It almost compensates for enduring for all the disappointment heaped on us by this frivilous franchise. I almost wish I was born a Cardinal, Sox or Yankees fan. I said almost. Cubs Forever...Lousy!

A Ray of Reality

What happened to the old rule that allowed the score keeper to award a victory to the pitcher who deserves it? There's no doubt in anyone's mind that The Dumpster deserved last night's victory, rather than Carlos Marmol.

Probing question: Will this year be the year that a team that can't even play 500 ball during the regular season ends up winning the World Series?

Lou-PLEASE stop putting Marmol in games until he gets straightened out. How many more games can you afford to have him lose? This makes 2 to the Giants alone, both on HRs, which is something he wasn't giving up before. This is the exact same thing Dempster did in the prior 2 years.

I'm ready for the Cubs to get back on track--if only to stop hearing from our own "Ray of Sunshine".

Go Cubs Go!
